Black walnut maple pancake flipper - 12"

This large spatula was sculpted from a tree that fell in a friend’s pasture down the road from our home. The touch of lighter color is from the edge of the log, which stays lighter in black walnut trees. This design is great for use on griddles, and the wide surface is especially good for flipping pancakes. 

The utensil has been soaked in food-safe mineral oil and buffed with wax from our bees. The glossy finish will eventually fade with use and be replaced with muted color variations and a fine, velvety patina. You may treat it periodically with mineral oil or another food-safe oil to sharpen colors if you desire.
