Spalted sugar maple vase
This small vase was sculpted from a tree in Crawfordsville that had to be removed because it was posing a risk to a home. The black lines, called spalting, are the result of fungus that begins growing on the surface of dying wood and then reaches into the fissures of the wood.
It has been finished with Danish oil.
The vase is 3.75” tall and is designed for dry sprigs.
