This left-handed spoon was sculpted from a branch left behind after a logging crew harvested some timber from a friend's property near Crawfordsville, Indiana. The lighter shades are sapwood from the perimeter of the log, just under the bark.
The curve on this design enables left-handed users to comfortably scrape the sides of pans.
The utensil has been soaked in food-safe mineral oil and buffed with wax from our bees. The glossy finish will eventually fade with use and be replaced with muted color variations and a fine, velvety patina. You may use mineral oil or other food-safe treatments to sharpen colors periodically if you desire, but no treatment is necessary for the spoon to remain useful for many years.
