Description:
Spurtles are useful for sautéing, stirring stock pots, mixing dough, and wiping items off of cutting boards. The beveled underside of the edges maximize bowl/pan contact, allowing the utensil to slide under food.
How it's made:
This spoon is made from wood that was purchased from a local father-son sawmill and kiln operation.
I cut each individual utensil to its rough shape on the bandsaw and then shape it on a belt sander before hand sanding and finishing with organic distilled coconut oil. No step in the process is automated.
Care:
All wood items should be hand-washed. If you’d like to restore the utensil’s original tones, you may occasionally treat it with mineral oil, butcher block oil, fractionated (distilled) coconut oil, or any other food-safe wood finish.
The larger the utensil, the more important it is to oil the utensil periodically. Larger utensils experience greater expansion and contraction during the washing and drying process. (Note: Avoid using the regular, non-distilled coconut oil and olive oil used for cooking, as it may develop a thin layer of bacteria between uses.)
After Your Purchase:
I don’t have a detailed, official return policy, but if your utensil breaks or disappoints you under normal use and with proper care within a time period that you consider unacceptable, please let me know. We’ll find a way to make it right either through a refund or a replacement. I want you to be satisfied with your purchase.
