These handcrafted wood earrings were sculpted from a tree that we had to remove from our yard due to storm damage and possible risk to our home.
The term "spalting" refers to the black threads that are formed when fungus works its way through fissures in the wood. (Don't worry, the fungus stops growing as soon as the wood is dried, and the Danish oil finish keeps it from exposure to the air or your skin. It makes for a good conversation starter, though.)
The earrings are very light--just a fraction of an ounce, so they're comfortable to wear. The metal parts are nickel-free.
