This spoon was sculpted from a branch left behind after a logging crew harvested some timber from a friend's property near Crawfordsville, Indiana. The lighter shades are sapwood from the perimeter of the log, just under the bark.
The flat head on this design enables users to scrape the bottom of a pan.
The utensil has been soaked in food-safe mineral oil and buffed with wax from our bees. The glossy finish will eventually fade with use and be replaced with muted color variations and a fine, velvety patina. You may use mineral oil or other food-safe treatments will sharpen colors if you desire, but no treatment is necessary for the spoon to remain useful for many years.
